Master Chocolatier and pastry chef Oscar Ortega received his culinary
training in Mexico City and his pasrty training at the Cast Alimenti school
in Brascia Italy. Chef Ortega completed courses in chocolate and sugar
decoration at the Notter School of Pastry Arts. He sharpened his skills
and passion as a patry chef and chocolatier at luxury hotels and fine
dinning establishments in the UK, Italy, France, Mexico and the USA. .
In 2004 Ortega opened Cioccolato Pastry Shop producing an extensive variety
of hand made chocolates, desserts, entremets and viennoiserie. Cioccolato
was forced to move out of it’s original location in the beginning of 2009
and is now re opened as Atelier Ortega in Jackosn Wyoming. In December of 2008 Chef Ortega was selected by Barry Callebaut as a finalist to compete in the 2009 World Chocolate Masters competition.

Chef Ortega is the captain for the team that competed in Le Mondial du Arts Sucre 2008 in Paris representing Mexico. Chef Ortega was selected to compete at the USA semifinals for the World Chocolate Masters competition, were he got 3rd place overall. Chef Ortega was the captain of the Mexican Pastry team that competed at the X Coupe du Monde de la Patisserie 2007 in Lyon France.
Ortega organized and lead the Mexican Pastry Team that competed at the World Pastry Team Championship 2006 USA, where the team achieved the Sportsmanship award.
Chef Ortega earned silver and a bronze medal at the 2006 pastry masterpiece in Las Vegas, NV. He got a gold medal and a diploma as an honorable member of the French Culinary Academy in 2005. In 2004 He competed and awarded at the IKA (Olympic Culinary Games) in Erfurt Germany
